Brace yourselves, Winter is Coming

My obsession with Game of Thrones aside, it’s getting cold outside. While Andrew and I were outside in the (what felt like) freezing cold these last few weeks finishing up our garage, I started daydreaming about what awesome projects I could be tackling inside where it was warm… actually I freaked out thinking “ohmygod I need to finish so many things before it gets really cold! Holy shit balls! I need to get my ass in serious gear.”  Funnily enough I was also thinking this about my literal ass as well as my DIY ass, that’s a different post though.

Anyway, Here is what NEEDS to be finished before winter sets in (Winter is coming, after all):

1) Garage gutters: When I first started writing this post, these were yet to be hung, but lo and behold, the gutters are up. The only other thing that needs to happen to the garage is painting the eaves. I suppose it can wait, but I’m going to murderously stare at the eaves all winter if I don’t get it done. Finishing the gutters caused a chain reaction that involved digging a trench in our backyard which we still need to finish.

2) Outside lights: We are replacing the exterior lights. These will provide a much needed update and keep the creepies away. There is ONE left to do.

3) Plant something where the old euonymous bushes were: We ripped these out as they caught some sort of virus. We were assured that the virus only affects this type of plant, so I feel safe about planting something else there. Fall is the perfect time to plant… apparently. I’m thinking these awesome things.

4) Front doors: I’m calling this one 50% done at this point. New post coming.

Here are the projects I want to tackle this winter:

1) New Dining room Chandelier: I’m thinking I might DIY a capiz chandelier or something beaded. We’ll see. This is what I’m contending with now:

2) Dip Dye curtains and re-style our living room. Because have a new couch!! Really, we need a new Dining room rug, I can’t make any curtain decisions until we have decided on a rug. Any suggestions for cheap rugs?

3) Paint some interior trim. Now that I’ve said it out loud, it’s all I want to do. I just keep looking at the chipped baseboards and the doors that are brown for no reason and think, “I will destroy you.”

4) Finish the back staircase: see our never ending project list.

5) Our basement storage room: See phase 2 of this post.

6) Closets. Ohmygod closets. I went to change out my summer wardrobe to my fall wardrobe the other day and had a mini melt down. We lost 4 closets in our move, but gained a basement that we were okay with going into. This still leaves us with some “creative” ways to store things, or just leaving the vacuum out all the time. Note: this does not make me want to vacuum more. This happened when I was changing out my clothes:
