Bean’s TV Club

Well, I love TV, and I am not afraid to admit it. I am not as into movies – I love watching shows and seeing the characters develop over time. I figured since I posted about books, that I could also post about TV. So, a few that I’ve been watching :

The Sopranos: Dan and I just finished the series the other week (he had seen them all, I had never seen them). This show really is as great as people say it is. Dramatic and dark, but you can’t help but love Tony, Carm, Chrissy, Sil, Pauly and the rest of the crew. Even the logo is awesome. It really did set the stage for the lovable antihero that we’re seeing more often now- see #2.

2. Breaking Bad: The newest antihero that we couldn’t stop watching. Even if you can’t stand watching Walter White ruin his life (which is hard to do), the cinematography on this show is AMAZEBALLS. Seriously worth watching just for the pretty shots. So well written.

3. Modern Family: If you want to laugh every week, this show is THE BEST. I can’t even tell you who my favorite character is, they are all so good.

4. Game of Thrones: We just caught up, so now we have to wait until the new season comes out. There are A LOT of characters on this show, so it can get confusing sometimes, but it’s very entertaining, especially Tyrion Lannister. He is the absolute best. And if you watch the show already, and you haven’t seen the Bad Lip Reading video on You Tube, you must check it out!

5. Dexter, but only seasons 1-4: In my opinion, the show probably should have ended with the season finale of season 4. After that, it just wasn’t as good.

6. The Tudors: Two words, Ladies- Charles Brandon. He alone makes the show worth watching. Another perk of watching this show- Dan got some questions right on Jeopardy just because we watched it!

7. Downton Abbey: This show is the bomb. The drama, the hookups, the house, the costumes, the Dowager Countess. I just love it. If you don’t love it, don’t tell me because we can’t be friends anymore.

8. Shahs of Sunset: I want to be friends with Reza and I am not afraid to admit it. Sometimes, you need some reality TV to bring you back to reality. These Persians are fierce and I love them. Ryan Seacrest, you have done it again, my friend. I know who your next venture should be…

Brace yourselves, Winter is Coming

My obsession with Game of Thrones aside, it’s getting cold outside. While Andrew and I were outside in the (what felt like) freezing cold these last few weeks finishing up our garage, I started daydreaming about what awesome projects I could be tackling inside where it was warm… actually I freaked out thinking “ohmygod I need to finish so many things before it gets really cold! Holy shit balls! I need to get my ass in serious gear.”  Funnily enough I was also thinking this about my literal ass as well as my DIY ass, that’s a different post though.

Anyway, Here is what NEEDS to be finished before winter sets in (Winter is coming, after all):

1) Garage gutters: When I first started writing this post, these were yet to be hung, but lo and behold, the gutters are up. The only other thing that needs to happen to the garage is painting the eaves. I suppose it can wait, but I’m going to murderously stare at the eaves all winter if I don’t get it done. Finishing the gutters caused a chain reaction that involved digging a trench in our backyard which we still need to finish.

2) Outside lights: We are replacing the exterior lights. These will provide a much needed update and keep the creepies away. There is ONE left to do.

3) Plant something where the old euonymous bushes were: We ripped these out as they caught some sort of virus. We were assured that the virus only affects this type of plant, so I feel safe about planting something else there. Fall is the perfect time to plant… apparently. I’m thinking these awesome things.

4) Front doors: I’m calling this one 50% done at this point. New post coming.

Here are the projects I want to tackle this winter:

1) New Dining room Chandelier: I’m thinking I might DIY a capiz chandelier or something beaded. We’ll see. This is what I’m contending with now:

2) Dip Dye curtains and re-style our living room. Because have a new couch!! Really, we need a new Dining room rug, I can’t make any curtain decisions until we have decided on a rug. Any suggestions for cheap rugs?

3) Paint some interior trim. Now that I’ve said it out loud, it’s all I want to do. I just keep looking at the chipped baseboards and the doors that are brown for no reason and think, “I will destroy you.”

4) Finish the back staircase: see our never ending project list.

5) Our basement storage room: See phase 2 of this post.

6) Closets. Ohmygod closets. I went to change out my summer wardrobe to my fall wardrobe the other day and had a mini melt down. We lost 4 closets in our move, but gained a basement that we were okay with going into. This still leaves us with some “creative” ways to store things, or just leaving the vacuum out all the time. Note: this does not make me want to vacuum more. This happened when I was changing out my clothes:
